Love and Truth Ministries is involved in many outreaches in the community. We recently had a Community Ministry day at the church where 9 local Ministries came and shared their information with the church. Once a month we assist at RIFA in their feeding program. Different Ministry teams from the church volunteer each month.Once a year we host the "Night of Blessing." This is a great time where the entire church gets involved to donate to help those in need in the community.
We are presently in our 2nd year at Love and Truth of hosting the homeless men of Jackson through a ministry called Room in the Inn.
Room in the Inn was founded in Nashville TN when a Catholic Priest saw the need for homeless men to have shelter from the harsh weather conditions and invited them in to his parish to spend the night. It has since grown into a large complex that has recently opened a new facility in Nashville where volunteers help the less fortunate learn how to cope with life. The dream began to spread and in Jackson TN there were initially only 4 churches involved. In 2011, 48 churches are now on board (8 more than in 2010) and Love and Truth began our 2nd year of volunteering. We pick up around 15 guests at the Area Relief Ministries downtown and transport them to our facility where they are greeted with volunteers with a heart of compassion, served a great meal prepared by our volunteers, enjoy fellowship with conversation, games, recreation and then a warm place to bed down for the night.
We start the next morning at 5 a.m. by serving breakfast and then transport our guests back to the pick up point downtown with goody bags of snacks, personal hygiene items, gloves and meal gift cards from local restaurants. Only eternity will tell all the positive stories that come out of the small part we play in this effort to help people cope with the issues that drive them to hopelessness. It is our goal to be the hands and feet and voice of God to hurting people without judging and that by reaching out to others our lives will be forever changed. Statistics from 2010 show that the ministry is changing lives which in turn is changing our world and eternity.
